The mission of Literacy Volunteers of Wayne County, Inc. is to increase literacy for those who live or work in Wayne County. We do this through well-trained volunteer tutors who provide free teaching in Adult Literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL). Most of our programs use a one-to-one approach which focuses on the student’s own needs and goals – whether simple reading and writing skills, GED preparation, or learning the English Language. In addition, during the agricultural season, we hold free ESL classes for migrant farmworkers. We believe everyone has a right to access information. Increased literacy opens the door to vital information that increases self-esteem, independence, and productivity. Visit our web site at http://www.redsuspenders.com/~lvwayne/. To learn more about our programs or to volunteer, please contact Chris Edgar, Director, or Vera Alford, ESL Coordinator, at lvwayne@redsuspenders.com or (315) 946-5333. 2 Broad Street, Lyons, NY, 14489. |
